  c. ones having a height of over 1,650 mm or with a total motor rated power consumption of over 300 watts, whose refrigeration unit being installed at the upper part of its main body,

  d. ones that do not generate air curtain, which refers to airflow for reducing effects of surrounding temperature, etc. on the inside of the showcase (the same applies to “e”.), or that generate air curtain and have the maximum external depth dimension of 800 mm or more, among those having a closed top face and at least one of the side faces open all the time,

  e. ones generating air curtain on the top and either having the average inside temperature of 15°C, being the cold air-natural convection type or having two display compartments, which refer to compartments for displaying items stored inside while keeping them cold,

  f. ones manufactured for an orderer in accordance with housing dimensions, air blower, refrigerating unit or heater capacity, insulation performance, or lighting performance specifications defined based on the orderer's instructions, annual shipment volume of which is less than 10 units.

Energy Consumption Efficiency

Energy consumption efficiency shall be annual energy consumption (kWh/year) measured by a method stipulated in Appendix JA, JIS B 8631-2 (2011).

Categories & Target Standard Values

In the target fiscal year and each subsequent fiscal year, for each category, the weighted average value obtained by weighting energy consumption efficiency with shipment volume shall not be above the target standard value which is a weighted average value obtained by weighting standard energy consumption efficiency*1 with shipment volume.

*1: Values obtained from the standard energy consumption efficiency calculation formulas and rounded to the nearest integers.

Category Standard energy consumption efficiency calculation formula
Category name Type of shutting off ambient air Shape Temperature zone Cooling type Type of door
1A Closed type Box type Refrigeration Cold air-forced circulation type Swing/Slide E = 2.24V1 + 150
1B Four-face/five-face glass type Swing E = 4.16V2 + 85
1C Reach-in type (with a refrigeration unit installed at the bottom) E = 2.61V3 - 217
1D Slide E = 0.822V3 + 694
1E Freezing Swing E = 5.08V3 + 4274
1F Glass top type Cold air-natural convection type Slide E = 4.11V2 + 440
1G Cold air-forced circulation type E = 19.5V2 + 1643
2A Open type Multi-shelf type (ceiling air-blow type) (thin type) Refrigeration Medium temperature Cold air-forced circulation type E = 11.6V4 - 440
2B High temperature E = 8.31V4 - 3
2C Flat type (one-sided) Low temperature E = 17.9V2 + 1577
2D Medium temperature E = 5.03V2 + 1214
2E Freezing Low temperature E = 13.4V2 + 4321
2F Medium temperature E = 20.7V2 + 1558
Remarks:
  1. “Thin type” refers to a product type whose depth based on the maximum external dimensions stipulated in JIS B 8631-1 (2011) (hereinafter referred to as “product depth dimension”) (unit: mm) is less than 800 mm.
  2. “One-sided” refers to a product having only one display compartment stipulated in JIS B 8631-1 (2011).
  3. “Swing” refers to a type of door that has a rotation axis on one side and pivots around the axis to open or close.
  4. “Slide” refers to a type of the door that opens or closes by moving, along a rail, in parallel to the face where the door is installed.
  5. E: Standard energy consumption efficiency (unit: kWh/year)
  6. V1, V2, V3 or V4: Adjusted cooling internal volume (unit: liter)
             It shall be a value obtained from the formula given for each category in the right
             column of the table below and rounded to the nearest integer.
    D: Product depth dimension
    d: Depth dimension of the ceiling part (hereinafter referred to as “ceiling depth dimension”) (unit: mm)
    V: Cooling internal volume (unit: liter) as stipulated in Appendix JB, JIS B8631-2 (2011).
    Category nameAdjusted cooling internal volume
    1AV1 = (550 / D) × V
    1BV2 = V
    1CV3 = (800 / D) × V
    1DV3 = (800 / D) × V
    1EV3 = (800 / D) × V
    1FV2 = V
    1GV2 = V
    2AV4 = (600 / ((d + D) / 2)) × V
    2BV4 = (600 / ((d + D) / 2)) × V
    2CV2 = V
    2DV2 = V
    2EV2 = V
    2FV2 = V

    However, if the adjusted cooling internal volume obtained from the above formula is lower than the lower limit value given for each category in the right column of the table below, the lower limit value shall be used as the adjusted cooling internal volume.
