Electric Water Heaters

Electric water heaters (limited to those that utilize heat pump units using carbon dioxide as a refrigerant), except the following:

1) ones for heating, or

2) ones for business use.

Energy consumption efficiency shall be the ratio of the heating amount (MJ) per unit time imparted to the circulating water to the amount of power consumption (kWh) when a heat pump is running. For those with a bathtub water reheating function, it is referred to as the annual water heating and reheating efficiency. For those without a bathtub water reheating function, it is referred to as the annual water heating efficiency. The measurement method is in accordance with the method stipulated in JIS C 9220.

①FY2017 and each subsequent fiscal year (until FY2024)

In the target fiscal year and each subsequent fiscal year, for each category, the weighted average value obtained by weighting energy consumption efficiency with shipment volume shall not be below the target standard value.

Remarks:

“Storage capacity” refers to the capacity of a tank capable of storing hot water specified in JIS C 9220 (2011) “Residential Heat Pump Water Heaters.” “Cold region specifications” refers to specifications that assume use in a region that is severely cold in winter, specified in JIC C 9220 (2011). “Reheating function” refers to a function that circulates and heats bathtub water.

In the target fiscal year and each subsequent fiscal year, for each category, the weighted average value obtained by weighting energy consumption efficiency with shipment volume shall not be below the target standard value.

Energy consumption efficiency is expected to be improved by about 5% compared with the FY2017 level in the target fiscal year (FY2025).
