Notification: Briefing Session on Open Request for Technical Ideas for“Safety Enhancement for LWRs”Program in FY2012 -“R&D program for Plant Safety Enhancement”


In light of the lessons learned from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Accident, the purpose of the “Safety Enhancement for LWRs” subsidy program developed by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy is to promote research and development aimed at enhancement of safety measures at commercial power-generation reactors.

In order to promote technical development through acceptance of wide-ranging expertise and experience from industries outside of the nuclear industry, ideas with the potential to solve technical problems are sought for the “Safety Enhancement for LWRs - R&D program for Plant Safety Enhancement -” in FY2012. This program will be jointly conducted by THE INSTITUTE OF APPLIED ENERGY, TOSHIBA CORPORATION, HITACHI-GE NUCLEAR ENERGY, LTD., and MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES, LTD.

The Briefing Session on the Open Request for Technical Ideas will be held as outlined below:

If there are too many applicants, we will send an acceptance mail on October 2 (Tue.), advising that participation will be restricted to only one person per group.

Participation in the briefing session is not a prerequisite for proposal submission.
