Briefing session for "Open Request for Technical Ideas" was held on Oct, 3 (wed.) and result summary is shown below.

Purpose:

In light of the lessons learned from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Accident, the purpose of the “Safety Enhancement for LWRs”subsidy program developed by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy is to promote research and development aimed at enhancement of safety measures at commercial power-generation reactors.

In order to promote technical development through acceptance of wide-ranging expertise and experience from industries outside of the nuclear industry, ideas with the potential to solve technical problems are sought for the “Safety Enhancement for LWRs - R&D program for Plant Safety Enhancement -”in FY2012.

This program will be jointly conducted by THE INSTITUTE OF APPLIED ENERGY, TOSHIBA CORPORATION, HITACHI-GE NUCLEAR ENERGY, LTD., and MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES, LTD.
